World’s Most Expensive Lego Brick

The world’s most expensive Lego brick is a pure-gold Lego brick costing $14,449. Containing about 25.65 grams of 14 carat gold, this rare Lego block is worth more than its weight in pure gold, and certainly worth more than the gold used in making it.

Solid gold Lego brick in its case

This gold Lego brick was one of a series of gold Lego blocks that were given to employees who had worked at the Lego manufacturing unit in Honewestedt, Germany for 25 years or more, from 1979-1981. It was also given to a few selected business partners of Lego, Germany.

The gold Lego block measures 2 x 4, just like one of the standard Lego bricks that come in a Lego block set. It is available for sale at BrickEnvy, an online auction company that is renowned for selling collector’s-edition Lego sets.

What do you think of this gold Lego block? Would you like one for your kids?
