Luxury Birdhouses and Bird Mansions For Pet Birds

If you have a pet bird, you’ll love these luxury birdhouses and bird mansions, which have been specially crafted for pet birds. They are designed by John Looser, a Canadian entrepreneur, who has taken his affection for birds to another level by creating these fantastic luxury birdhouses.

John Loosen with his collection of luxury birdhouses

Each birdhouse or luxury bird mansion has been hand crafted, and constructed out of reclaimed wood. The architectural style of most of these luxury birdhouses is the 19th century European style, though small birdhouses are also available. These bird houses are especially useful in winter, to house those birds who haven’t been able to fly south for the winter.

If you want to buy one of these bird mansions, the asking price ranges from US $200 and $2,500. There are a number of charming bird houses you can choose from. You can also ask John Looser from Extreme Birdhouses to custom-build an exclusive bird house, for your pet birds. In some countries, birds like sparrows are disappearing due to lack of nesting space. Such bird houses give these endangered birds a nice and comfortable place to stay, which will hopefully increase their numbers.

Pet Diamonds: Turning Precious Pets Into Precious Gems

Pets are precious to their owners, and now you can turn a bit of your pet into a beautiful jewel, which you can wear for the rest of your life, even after your pet is gone. Whether your pet is alive or dead, all it takes are a few hairs or feathers, to create a precious diamond that serves as a loving reminder of your dog, cat or other animal.

The cost of pet diamonds starts from $1,400, with prices varying depending on colour and size. Pet diamonds are made from the carbon from your pet’s fur or cremated ashes in a laboratory, and have the same physical properties as diamonds collected from a diamond mine. These man-made laboratory diamonds are virtually indistinguishable from real mined diamonds.

Photos of the man-made diamonds made from pet's fur

The process of fabricating pet diamonds involves putting the carbon extracted from the fur/cremated remains, together with a diamond seed crystal, into a thick metal chamber, under high temperatures (2000 F) and pressure (800,000 pounds/sq inch). After a few days, a rough uncut diamond is produced, which can be polished and cut. The whole process of making such a man-made diamond can take about two months.

To get a one carat laboratory diamond, you’ll need about a cup of your pet’s hair or a cup of your pet’s cremated ashes. People can choose from different types of colours for their pet diamond, like red, orange, blue, yellow and white. These pet jewels can be set in rings, earrings, cufflinks and pendants, which can be worn whenever you want.

When you order a pet diamond, you also get a GIA certificate for your jewel, which gives information about the unique chemical composition of the cremated remains of your pet. While some people think this to be creepy, many grieving pet owners are turning to pet diamond making companies to create valuable keepsakes of their pet.

What do you think of the idea of creating a diamond out of the remains of your pet or loved one? Would you wear such a diamond?

Celebrity Pets – Mike Tyson’s Pigeons and Tigers

When it comes to celebrity pets, not many people know that Mike Tyson has a soft corner for pigeons. The renowned heavyweight boxer (who is the youngest boxer to have won the WBC, WBA and IBF titles) turned to pigeons for calm and solace, after the death of his four-year old daughter Exodus.

The pet pigeons are believed to be the main reason for his turnaround, after the tragic accident that killed his daughter. Mike Tyson also participates in pigeon racing events, during which he enters his pet pigeons in the competition. According to Mike Tyson, pigeons are very loyal creatures. Mike Tyson also once said that he wanted to die with pigeons fluttering all around him.

Other than the pigeons, Mike Tyson also owned three Royal Bengal Tigers. Two of these tigers were female, rare white Bengal tigers named Kenya and Storm. The third tiger was a male cat named Boris, with golden-yellow fur.

One of Mike Tyson’s pet tigers also appeared alongside him in the Hollywood movie ‘The Hangover’, which released in 2009. According to reports, Mike Tyson spent an astonishing $4000 per month on maintenance and food for his pet tigers.

However, Mike Tyson lost custody of his pet tigers when he was not able to acquire the proper license for keeping them in his house. They were confiscated by authorities in the USA, and sent to an animal refuge in Colorado state. So, now Mike Tyson only has his pet pigeons as company.

What do you think of Mike Tyson’s pet pigeons and tigers? Would you consider keeping a pigeon or a tiger as a pet?

She was adopted by Kardashian during the filming of the reality TV show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, Season Three. While many people would like to own a sheepdog, it is important to remember that sheepdogs require a lot of space for exercise (like the hills, meadows and pastures that sheep graze in), and simple walks around the neighbourhood are not enough for them.

This Perthshire Blackface lamb was 12 months old when it was sold for the huge price of $144,750. It was owned by Ian Hunter, a breeder and farmer based in Perthshire. Ian Hunter also sold the twin of this blackface lamb for $96,450, at the same auction sale.

Celebrity Pets - Kristen Stewart’s Wolf Dog Named Jack

Kristen Stewart, the main actress in ‘The Twilight Saga’ is the owner of a wolf dog named Jack. Her dog is the oldest male dog amongst the many wolf-dog hybrids in America, and has been raised by Kristen Stewart’s mother, since a long time.

Kristen Stewart's pet wolf-dog Jack

Owning a wolf-dog hybrid animal is not legal in all states of America. In fact, it is legal in only a few US states. According to Kristen Stewart, her wolf-dog Jack is very good natured, and loves to rub his head on her feet.

While Kristen Stewart feels that wolf-dog hybrids are in general, good natured and sweet, she does not advise others to purchase one. The main reason for this is the unpredictable nature and wild temperament of a wolf-dog.

Kristen Stewart also mentioned that most of the caring and feeding of Jack, her wolf-dog, is done by her mother.

World’s Most Expensive Cow: Missy

The world’s most expensive cow is a black-and-white cow named Missy, which was bought for the price of $1.2 million. This sale happened at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, in Toronto, Canada. Missy was bought by a trio of investors.

Missy - the world's most expensive cow

The main reason why Missy is priced so high is because of her hip-size and huge udders, which are exceptionally large for a cow. The cow delivers protein-rich milk, which analysts believe will be used to make the world’s most expensive cheeses.

The value of Missy is enhanced by the probability that she will pass her milk-producing genes to generations of offspring calves, which in turn will also produce huge amounts of protein-rich milk for making expensive cheese.
